June 28, 2012

Colorado C.O.P.S. has partnered with the organizers of the 50 State Ride4COPS.

Former police officer Harry Herington made a promise to his partners just as thousands of officers do today, "If something happens to me, take care of my family."

Join the ride, remember our fallen heroes, support survivors, and help us continue the Ride4Cops promise.

Ride4Cops was created by NIC CEO Harry Herington, who as a former law enforcement officer, recognized the need to support the friends and families that fallen officers leave behind. During his career in law enforcement, Harry remembered the promise he made to his partners, "If something happens to me, take care of my family." That promise continues to take place today across the country between thousands of law enforcement officers.

Ride4Cops takes Harry's personal pledge to each State Capitol to raise awareness of the inherent dangers of law enforcement and to support survivors. Along the journey he rides the Memorial bike, a customized Harley-Davidson that has become a traveling memorial to our fallen heroes.

Throughout the Ride4Cops journey, the Memorial Bike has become a traveling memorial. At each event, family members and friends have donated momentos from their loved ones to travel on the motorcycle. Mini-badges of fallen officers are displayed and the bike's compartment carries pictures drawn by fallen officers' children.

Please join Ride4Cops on their Colorado leg on July 18, 2012 as we travel from the State Capitol to the Colorado Law Enforcement Memorial site for a moment of silence followed immediately by an on-site reception.

The Colorado leg of the ride begins at 10:00 a.m. on July 18, 2012 at the Colorado State Capitol. All bikes should be parked in the far left lane on Broadway between Colfax Avenue and E. 14th Avenue. A permit as been secured for this No Parking Zone and there will be an officer on site for traffic control. Please be sure to park only in the secured area which will be designated by traffic cones and copies of our permit.

Riders may begin parking their bikes at 9:00 a.m. The motorcycle procession to the memorial will begin at 10:40 a.m.

We ride to remember those heroes we have lost in the line of duty and to show our support to their survivors. Remembering survivors of fallen law enforcement officers means encouraging them with your care and concern, and also making sure they are aware of and have access to professional resources. We want to thank you for registering for this Ride4Cops event. Together, we can make a difference.

All donations are used exclusively for police survivors and their families. Donations are tax-deductible. T-Shirts will be available for purchase at the event.
